As Quantitative Credit Risk Analyst (1st LoD) for the Corporate Banking portfolio (total assets 85 billion) I unlock valuable information contained within our production and historical data. My team and I ensure that the bank makes informed, data driven decisions. We work closely with the business to understand the data they generate in their day-to-day activities to unlock the intelligence contained within. Our team makes an important contribution to the bank’s new credit risk models (PD, LGD, EAD), and will evaluate and improve the performance of existing models.

As a Credit Risk Analyst / approver I evaluate the creditworthiness of businesses (and individuals) and determine the likelihood that a borrower will be able to meet financial obligations and pay back a loan. Usually this is done by reviewing the borrower's financial history, financial forecasts and determining whether market conditions will have a positive effect on repayment. My role demands a strong combination of analytical, interpersonal and decision-making skills and is very much centered on risk management: risks must be understood and communicated, and credit exposures kept in line with the banks limit on risk bearing.

Innovation is highly necessary in a constant changing environment. Within the Credit Risk department of ABN AMRO I have participated in a multidisciplinary (Risk Managers, Data Scientists, UI/UX experts) project called ‘Risk-lab’. Here we work on improving, accelerating and objectifying our risk analysis process and new risk related services (Risk-as-a-Service). This is done based on the Lean Startup and Scrum methodology. During my work for the Risk-lab I also participated in the ‘Data team’ (on behalf of the team of Risk Managers) and an ABN AMRO Hackathon weekend.
