About Nima Sarmadi
I completed my undergraduate and graduate studies in Civil and Geotechnical engineering at Tehran Polytechnic and the University of Tehran in Iran. Alongside doing my MSc, I had the opportunity to work in Herampey consultancy firm on the design and construction of concrete and steel structures. I moved to the UK in 2020 and started my PhD in Computational Geomechanics at the University of Warwick. During three years of PhD, I developed a finite element computational code that is capable of modelling fracking and failure in geo-materials. The results of my research have been published in international scientific journals.Currently, I work as a geotechnical engineer at Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) in the UK. My works are mainly focused on the numerical analysis and design of the tailings dams. I am also interested in research topics that include numerical modelling of failure in geo-materials, especially heterogeneous porous media.
