Nina Thomas Email and Phone Number
Gifted and twice-exceptional children require an individualised approach to education that considers their unique abilities, interests, and learning styles. Asynchronous in their development, these individuals benefit from opportunities to build meaningful relationships and form a sense of belonging. Additionally, providing information and resources to parents and caregivers is essential to understanding and best supporting these children. Despite the unique challenges that are faced by our gifted and twice-exceptional youth, they are incredibly capable. With proper support and resources, they can reach their full potential academically, and socially and emotionally.I have grown up with gifted and twice-exceptional individuals, including my family. Therefore, I understand the challenges and difficulties they face within their unique emotional, behavioural, and learning needs. My focus is on creating a secure and encouraging space where families and children can openly share their emotions, learn skills to develop positive relationships, and cultivate coping strategies to overcome academic and environmental challenges. As every gifted and twice-exceptional child is unique, I aim to equip them with the necessary, skills, tools and support through a range of evidence-based therapies, uniquely designed to suit their needs. I also provide advocacy support for families to navigate their child's academic life, including information on the unique needs of gifted and twice-exceptional children and how you can practise skills at home to support their development.I am an educator and have furthered my career by completing a Master in Gifted Education, a Master in Educational Psychology, and a Diploma in Psychotherapy. I have also completed certificates in ADHD in child development, counselling, neuro linguistic programming, hypnotherapy, and cognitive behaviour therapy. I have extensive knowledge on executive functioning and how to support students in developing and maintaining these skills. I am also currently studying psychology in my spare time to compliment my services. As I am passionate in the area of gifted and twice-exceptional, I volunteer my time in two gifted committees; I am a Director and the Gifted Awareness Week Chair for the Australian Association for the Education of the Gifted and Talented (AAEGT); and, a committee member as the AAEGT Representative for Gifted WA.
