As Associate Director of Texas State University’s HSI STEM Impact Program, I oversee the STEM Undergraduate Research Experience and coordinate related professional development for both students and faculty. I bring skills and experience in building multi-disciplinary partnerships and a passion for helping underrepresented students succeed in college to my work in this position. In this position, I supported a 13-member volunteer Board of Trustees who help raise private sector funds to supplement public funds to increase college enrollment and completion. We raised $3 million in the past year.I left this job voluntarily in excellent standing with a track record of success and excellent recommendations.

What could be better than that?Specifically, our goal was to increase the level of private sector funding to supplement available public funding to meet the goals of the Texas higher education strategic plan: now 60x30TX. In order to do this, I• identified potential partners whose strategic goals aligned closely with those of the Coordinating Board;• worked with these potential funding partners, the Commissioner of Higher Education, and Coordinating Board staff to propose ways in which the agency would use additional resources to effectively address our common goals; and• provided careful stewardship of private sector funds entrusted to the Coordinating Board, ensuring that they were invested in programs and activities as agreed to with our partners.With the vision and expertise provided by dedicated and hard-working staff at the Coordinating Board, and the commitment to higher education by numerous philanthropic partners, I helped secure over fifteen million dollars in private sector and competitive federal funding to improve underrepresented students' access to and completion of college.I left this job voluntarily (in order to retire from state employment) in excellent standing with a track record of success and excellent recommendations.
