I have been in the hospitality business for 14 years. I participated in the building of the locations in a hands on experience. I now am learning the networking skills needed to market my rental cabins well and keep them full year round. I have run a small sheep farm in Michigan. It was a very successful venture. I also had a Jersey milk cow which supplied milk for the new lambs, leftovers for 3 pigs, veal calves, neighbors and friends, and I used it to make butter and cheese.I was in leadership capacity in my church in our women's group, a Sunday School teacher, a teacher for wives, a counselor, a teen leader. I was in the choir and did a lot of solo work as well, singing at weddings and funerals.I was involved in assisting and housing recovering alcohol and drug abuse persons to get their lives back together by providing affordable housing, transportation to jobs and meetings, counseling with work, budget, cooking, maintenance sklls, and their own personal issues with life.I raise registered Australian Shepherd puppies here in the mountains. My farm skills are at use here too.I worked as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for a couple of years. I also worked with Prison Fellowship Ministries.I am presently a volunteer for Hospice.I have a very large family and I am involved in supporting emotionally and spiritually in their lives. I am a Hospice volunteer. I do respite care for those who are the primary care givers for the patients, offer grief support, encourage the dying and those who care for the dying. Often I am involved in the final birthday in the life of the dying, heading up a celebration of sorts.

These are unique vacation rental cabins in the Smoky Mountains in western North Carolina. Fully furnished; great views; satellite tv; hot tubs, full kitchen and laundry, free wireless internet, much more. Here you can find solitude and peace from the rush and push of every day life. Each cabin is secluded unto itself, and not in a cluster of other cabins. It is home, with no interruptions. Folks coming never want to leave. I was a party of the physical building of these cabins, the finishing and decorating them and now managing the marketing, the maintenance and upkeep, the cleaning, heading up changes in the grounds-keeping, maintaining the roads and drainage ditches and driveways to the cabins with my little tractor.

This adventure has been the highlight of my living since it's inception. The business part of it has been an exceptional learning experience for dealing with human nature, uncovering things inside me that need improvement and discovering marketing skills. It has been a joy and I am grateful for all the things seeming good or bad.

Had a farm in western Michigan. I milked our small jersey cow named "Quarter Pounder"; raised veal calves with her and kept the neighborhood in milk; gave milk from the cow to lambs; raised pigs for meat and sale on extra milk... it was a great farm for me. I also put up fruit and vegetables for the winter months, made butter and cheese from the milk, and did a variety of things required when living on a farm, including heating the house with wood heat.
