    Out-of-core, multi-core, parallel computing for Power Grid analysisWhen the VLSI technology scales down to 65nm and 45nm, power/ground circuit grows extremely large. It needs more and more memory to simulate power grid. Parallel computing and out-of-core technique are used to solve huge size symmetric positive definite (SPD) matrix, which is dumped from P/G network. Solvers with multi-processor, multi-thread and out-of-core techniques are studied. POSIX threads, MPI are used to run power grid with 120 million nodes and density of 3 on 3*16G RAM machine.
