About Nipa Jahan

An environmentalist and sustainable development enthusiast. With a background in academic research, my interest lies in sustainability, blue carbon science, the circular economy, conservation, and climate change. Have been studying the potential of urban mining and its prospects to achieve a circular economy in Bangladesh for more than two years, using qualitative and quantitative data. A Commonwealth Shared Scholarship (CSS) recipient currently pursuing a Master's degree in Sustainable Development and working as a research assistant in a Blue Carbon project at the School of Geography Sustainable Development, University of St Andrews. It is a collaborative research project among three universities from Scotland and, India funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE). An advocate for environmental ethics. The contemporary environmental catastrophe is a result of deeper spiritual crises involving egocentric leadership and human-nature dualism. Consequently, I am strongly involved in cultivating an eco-centric mindset and disseminating it in my community to make this world flourish and a better place to live in for humans and non-human entities. Experienced in project management, leadership, and volunteering and highly passionate about social development and humanitarian actions.
