Currently working on ECE 270 and ECE 362.The Senior Instructional Lab Coordinator will be part of The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering's (ECE) world-leading, laboratory-based instructional team as we scale to meet increasing enrollment. As part of the ECE lab manager team, one in this position will develop and administer project- and laboratory-based instruction. The role includes supporting and aiding faculty who are developing and delivering laboratory-based teaching. - Teaching digital design content and managing course logistics and software for online content delivery, assignment submission, and hardware simulation.- Designing and maintaining a web-based Verilog simulation platform for students to design and test their own Verilog to implement hardware for lab experiments.- Designing and maintaining physical circuit evaluation software written in Qt C++, capable of analyzing a breadboarded circuit with a Digilent AD2, and producing a confirmation code verifying the functionality of the circuit.- Designing and maintaining exam proctoring software written in Qt C++, to manage recording of students' screens during exams, to ensure full control of student screen data without using third-party hosting providers and to ensure a confidential environment for taking exams with visibility limited to TAs and instructors.- Handling development and administration of lab experiments, homeworks, exams, with custom JavaScript plugins written for students to draw Karnaugh maps and timing diagrams, all within the assignment submission system. - Holding office hours sessions to additionally clarify material for students.- Writing and/or maintaining autograding software for batch-grading student code submissions in Verilog, utilizing SystemVerilog testbenches.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down schools and universities worldwide, I worked with the instructor for ECE 270 to create tools for helping the class transition more easily to an online format. With the invaluable guidance of my instructor, my work included:- Improving the course's web-based FPGA simulator that I had personally developed and maintained the past two years, including aspects of the interface presented to students including a workspace system to allow working with multiple SystemVerilog designs at a time, server-side performance, and bug fixes. (publicly hosted at simulator.nirajmmenon.com, which gets updated at the end of every Fall/Spring semester)- Writing a timing diagram renderer (WaveDraw) written purely in JavaScript to draw diagrams with HTML to model behaviors of digital designs, with the capability of saving these diagrams in text form into an external input element, for use in academic assignments based on timing diagrams in digital design courses. https://github.com/norandomtechie/wavedraw- Writing a Karnaugh Map drawing tool (also entirely in JS) allowing students to fill out NxN-sized k-maps with values (0/1/d), circling them to produce pairs, quads or octals, and attributing these circles as essential/non-essential prime implicants. Developed a web-based Verilog simulator to ease the learning curve for students new to Verilog simulation and synthesis. The interface is based on the physical system provided in lab - a Lattice ice40HX8K FPGA connected to a breakout board with buttons, LEDs and seven segment character displays that students can synthesize Verilog on and interact with to test their code. The site provides simulation capabilities in order to allow students to have an at-home experience of writing and simulating Verilog without actually having to buy the FPGA and breakout board themselves.
