Niranjan Tripathy has taught Finance at the University of North Texas for over 25 years. He is the Director of Ph.D. Program and Research at the UNT College of Business and a Professor of Finance. He is also a member of the Research Council which advises the UNT Vice President for Research on strategic issues related to advancing research and scholarship at UNT, and has participated in UNT delegation to China, Peru, Ecuador, and Mexico. Niranjan conducts research and publishes in the areas of market microstructures, insider trading, and capital acquisitions process. He received the Outstanding Faculty Award for Research from the Finance Department for three consecutive years: 2004-2006. Niranjan is dedicated to promoting investment practice and management at UNT. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He serves as a member of University Relations Committee of the Dallas CFA Chapter, and regularly sponsors and advises students for the CFA Scholarship, several of whom have earned the CFA designation. He was involved in establishing a permanent endowment for a Student Investment Group at the College of Business. He serves as faculty advisor to this group which manages a portfolio valued in excess of $300,000. He has also worked with the Financial Service Volunteer Corps to direct a Financial Analysis Workshop for a team of bankers, brokers, and stock exchange members in the Republic of Macedonia. He is actively involved in the College of Business Ph.D. Program, having supervised over 20 dissertations and helping students with placement and research collaborations. He has worked with UNT Office of International Education to extend the reach of the business doctoral program to faculty members from the Rajabhat University in Thailand and Tec de Monterrey in Mexico. He was awarded the Curriculum Innovation and Assessment Initiative Grant for summer teaching at Sheffield Business School, UK, and the Undergraduate Instructional Development Grant.
