Governance and Control Manager, looking after on going compliance to BCBS239 and Data Management requirements for Barclays UK and Consumer Credit Risk.

Responsible for contributing towards the establishment and maintenance of an independent validation and control testing framework which ensures compliance with BCBS guiding principles. Support and contribute to building and embedding a robust control framework which assesses whether the risk data aggregation and reporting processes are functioning as intended. Main activities:Build a control framework for the monitoring of BCBS compliance including a control testing and validation approachMonitoring and reporting of BCBS compliance status and governance deliverable to Senior ManagementDelivery of “no surprises” reporting by ensuring a proactive approach to the identification and management of control issues/weaknessesQuality Assurance over BCBS process, control testing and policy adherenceAligned approach with the other independent review activities within the bank's risk management program

Responsible for supporting strategic and regulatory change performing operational risk identification and quantification based on external regulations, policies and standards.Conduct compliance and risk assessments and prepare high-level requirements to support the development and maintenance of an effective control framework.Support implementation of solutions that prevent value being destroyed and ensure that control failures are mitigated in a timely manner.Promote a greater understanding of risk management and assurance in order to embed a risk aware culture and support the development of the right control framework.Decisively reduce cost of control through optimising processes, automating internal and external control environment, applying LEAN principles, increasing efficiency and focus on commerciality.Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across organisation by addressing issues/concerns in timely manner.Develop, maintain, manage relationships and collaborate and communicate with multiple stakeholders across the business in order to successfully promote Risk Management and Control Ownership.

Demonstrate knowledge of current regulatory environment, Organisation’s Risk Vision, and Risk Management policies and framework.Provide expert guidance, support, education, oversight and independent challenge through effective working relationships and stakeholder management to embed a culture where Risk Management and Control are embedded in the business.Support / Coordinate business wide process, risk and control reviews. Investigate root causes of operational risks and provide support to mitigate risk. Track and monitor mitigating actions to resolution for individual business units.Support the Senior Governance & Compliance Manager to define and embed a strategy and framework which ensures that the design of the Global Control Environment is effective to internal and external body requirements.Apply broad knowledge and reasoned experience when addressing complex issues and communicate a range of potential solutions in straightforward terms to colleagues and stakeholders at all levels in the organisation.A good understanding of the businesses across the organisation and have ability to identify trends, anticipate potential requirements.Competent working with both operational and technical controls.

Development of Risk, TCF and compliance framework for multiple business units.Responsible for independently monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of Operational Risk under the defined framework for the business unit.Assess the effectiveness of established controls (controls testing) either through direct efforts or the efforts of subordinates using a risk-based approach.Report outputs of RCSAs and control testing, monitor and track and corrective action for timely remediation and escalate significant deficiencies requiring immediate attention.Demonstrate knowledge of current regulatory environment, adherence to the Bank's Risk Vision, and Risk Management policies and framework.Act as a liaison with central Regulatory Compliance and Risk function within the organisation and facilitate effective communication within the business and other service providers.

Providing day to day proactive, practical support to assist the BCIG Strategy & Planning Manager in building and maintaining BCIG Portfolio strategic plans and monitoring the associated change activities and performance required to deliver them.
