In the Financial Markets function at YES Bank (a large private sector commercial bank in India), I have been responsible for building and developing the trading and client distribution functions, focusing on Fx, Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Fixed Income, Derivatives & Structured Products and leading and managing a team of more than 80 professionals. I was involved with the setting up of the DCM business at YES Bank from scratch, which has evolved to become one of the finest onshore DCM franchises in India. Some of my other key responsibilities included heading and building the Fx & Derivative Sales business since 2013 and the Fixed Income trading and distribution function of the bank. A past member of the Corporate Bonds & Securitisation Advisory Committee (CoBoSAC), which is a SEBI constituted committee to advise it on the issues related to the development of the corporate bond market in India. Profiled by the Economic Times in 2012 as one of the 7 people redefining the corporate bond market in India.Key Accomplishmentso 1000+ DCM transactions originated since inception for distribution to onshore and offshore investors.o Zero credit delinquency witnessed in the DCM business since inception. o Entry into the offshore DCM space in 2017.o Pioneering breakthrough market structures including the first corporate perpetual bond, the longest tenor bond, the maiden InVIT bond, etc.o More than 50 first time issuers introduced to the debt capital markets in India and helping them diversify their funding base.o Growth in the bank’s customer fx and derivative sales business of more than 7 times from FY14 to FY20; a CAGR of more than 35% over the said period.o Relationship driven fx advisory and transacting with a majority of the top 500 companies in the country.o Consistent profits every year since commencement of the PD business in 2015.

On Deputation from YES Bank as CEO, YES Asset Management. Started the Asset Management business of the bank from scratch and launched its first scheme in January 2019 - YES Liquid Fund, one of the most successful NFOs in its category. The NFO had a mobilisation of a little more than Rs. 3,000 cr (~ $425 mn then), with no investment participation therein from the parent bank. Key Accomplishments:a) Establishing the framework, systems and strategy for the Asset Management company as part of its go live objectives and as a going concern thereafter.b) Formulating and implementing the fixed income investment philosophy and policies for the AMC and establishing the internal Credit Rating and Liquidity Models as well as the Exposure Limits framework for the investment portfolio.c) Oversight on the investment portfolio strategy. Consistent Quartile 1 to upper Quartile 2 performance, without compromising on the portfolio quality and liquidity.d) Conceptualisation of the distribution strategy, in conjunction with the business team.e) Identification of key markets and segments for tapping investors across the corporate, institutional and retail space, both for the NFO and thereafter.

Origination and distribution of structured/vanilla assets and sales of derivative products to institutional clients. Primary responsibilities included:o Business development by originating structured assets (structured loans, MBS, ABS, etc.) from corporates/institutions for balance sheet and/or distribution. o Structuring and selling of derivative trade ideas to institutional clients. o Franchise and profile building of IDBI Bank amongst target segment

Originating, appraising and executing non – SLR investment transactions. Facilitating the bank’s foray into secondary market corporate debt trading. Primary responsibilities included:o Generating business revenues by effecting and managing the non-SLR fixed income investments of the bank through both primary and secondary markets. o Strategy Development in co-ordination with the Head of Investment Banking (setting business targets, enunciating the Investment Policy, identifying potential clients, products and targets segments etc). o New Business Development - New initiatives including mutual fund Investments, secondary market debt trading, debt syndication etc.
