Project: Solar assisted membrane based multi-stage multi-effect liquid desiccant air-conditioning .• Worked on liquid desiccant air-conditioning project, studying effects of membrane assisted desalination on thermal performance, corrosion and indoor air-quality.• Designed and developed a novel air-conditioning system ; Coordinated installation and maintenance by engineering team as per university guidelines.• Collaborated with industrial partners (MEMSYS®) and academic researchers to develop novel solution to improve energy efficiency and chemical energy storage for absorption air-conditioning.• Performed various duties regularly, including experimentation, data analysis, numerical modeling and simulation.• Developed unique research into the field of absorption air-conditioning and authored professional scientific papers for publishing in peer-reviewed journals.Achievements: Designed and developed a novel solar powered liquid desiccant assisted air-conditioner (LDAC) for cooling 50 sq.m office space. Eliminated: Corrosion, scaling, fouling, and fossil fuel consumption. Experimentally investigated a membrane-based de-humidifier and effects of controlled parameters on humidification performance. Observed: Desired dehumidification is achieved between 26% and 40% LiCl concentration. Developed finite element models (FEM) for heat and mass transfer of a novel VMEMD re-generator and simulated re-generator performance. Simulation outcomes indicated design modification effects on thermal performance. Analyzed a novel membrane assisted regenerator for high concentration aq. LiCl regeneration. Ground breaking result for LDACs: 4% regeneration was possible at 38% aq. LiCl solution.
