We, UROTAAR, are a theatrical group of youth, formed on 3rd April’13, who have come together with the motive of doing most creative by using fresh people and ideas for the purpose. At present, we are working on Street Plays which are being performed in various locations, and through these plays we are trying to highlight messages, especially about our lost cultures and deformed societal values. Along with this, we also have a Short Film Team & further coming up with some major projects which includes Proscenium Theatre and other art form. To stand out amongst the numerous theatre-groups that are active in Kolkata, Kalpayu is of the opinion that theatre, in addition to entertainment, must revive human values in our society, surpassing political colour, financial differences and social distances.Along with Theatre, Kalpayu envisages patronizing all forms of the Performing Arts. It aims towards building a platform where senior artistes of the stage and tinsel town would nurture the latent talents of the budding Theatre Worker, to create a Space where the rich heritage and ethics of our culture can be conserved and passed on to the next generation.This group proposes to grow with ideas and values that are living, and at the same time be synonymous with a society where ethics, aesthetics and entertainment mutually co-exist. We, at Kalpayu, firmly believe that “times change…values don’t ”…… hence the name Kalpayu – that which lives beyond TIME !!!
