I worked with a team on a project launched by the EPA through the Water Environment Research Foundation to set up an online "knowledge-base" of information on pipeline infrastructure asset management. This online "knowledge-base" is called WATERiD. In addition to helping to design the structure of WATERiD, my role in this project involved gathering information on condition assessment methods and tools from both vendors and utilities. After conducting interviews with and gathering information from utilities domestically and internationally, I wrote over 50 case studies showing real application and problems encountered and gathering advice from these experienced utilities. These case studies have been uploaded into WATERiD along with the gathered technical data and WATERiD member contact information. The data to create WATERiD was used to create two reports to be published by the EPA and WERF. One report was on the current State of the Technology for Condition Assessment of Water Pipelines, and the other on the current State of the Technology for Condition Assessment of Wastewater Pipelines. A board of experts in consulting, utility management, and academia was assembled to help write and edit each of the reports. These reports are currently under review by the EPA and WERF. Membership to WATERiD is free. This database will allow stakeholders such as utilities, contractors, technology providers, etc., to share critical information. Prepared a GIMP user manual for analysis of images of Glo-Germ "contaminated" deli meats.Prepared a literature review on the use of abiotic surrogates for evaluation of cross-contamination.

FOG Program Development and Implementation, Virginia Beach:- Drafted a Municipal Sewer Use Ordinance to create legal standing upon which to base implementation of program. Ordinance adopted in February 2009 (Virginia Beach Municipal Code of Ordinances, Chapt. 28, Art. IV, Div. 1-2). - Drafted regulations after conducting a pilot study to establish parameter relationships upon which to base them. - Drafted an Enforcement Response Plan outlining enforcement response actions and a Violation Recognition Guide to ensure fair and consistent application of those actions. - Organized stakeholder meetings attended by relevant City employees and local business owners. - Served on a panel of speakers at the 2009 Virginia Water Jam in a workshop on legal and regulatory difficulties particular to development of these types of programs in the state of Virginia. Dominion Boulevard and Bridge Design, Chesapeake: - Assisted in preparation of road design calculations, plan layouts and cross-sections with use of GEOPAK Roadway. - Performed calculations and plans for storm water design, including roadway and bridge drainage and channel design. Hampton Roads Transit Bus Maintenance Facility, Norfolk:- Prepared erosion and sediment control plans. - Prepared storm water design and calculations for HRT Bus Maintenance Facility renovation to attain LEED Silver certification. Aging Infrastructure Compliance Assistance, Virginia Beach: - Assisted in interviewing of City employees to determine which programs to adopt to combat the City's aging infrastructure problems and to comply with NPDES requirements. US Army Infantry Platoon Battle Course, Fort AP Hill: - Prepared erosion and sediment control plan. - Assisted in calculations and design for land development and target placement with use of Land Development Desktop.

Combined Sewer Separation, Lynchburg:Assisted in plan preparation for part of Lynchburg, Virginia's ongoing combined sewer separation project. Infiltration and Inflow Data Collection, Roanoke:Collected and recorded data on rainfall and flow rate in sewer for the purpose of quantification of I&I problems in Roanoke, Virginia. Stormwater GIS Collection and Condition Assessment, Purcellville: Collected GIS data and condition information for the stormwater system in Purcellville, Virginia.
