Dr. Nitant Mate is a partner in SeeGreen Solutions LLP and Director in SeeGreen Products Pvt. Ltd. His area of focus is development, demonstration and dissemination of decentralized sustainable technologies, processes and business models that are ecologically friendly, economically viable, and socially acceptable. It includes renewable fuels & electricity through biogas, biomass gasification, vegetable oil, biodiesel, solar, wind, etc. He provides consultancy, undertakes research & development, all the way up to prototyping and developing manufacturing facility for sustainable products, and is also into providing maintenance as well as operational services to renewable energy installations. Another aspect of his work involves training of manpower in the field of sustainability. He is a Mechanical Engineer and a designer of special purpose machines; and has also undertaken fundamental research in materials processing, thin and thick film deposition technologies, semiconductors processing, engine development and testing, etc. He has contributed in developing applications of solar energy and other renewable technologies in health sector. WHO, UNICEF, The World Bank, PATH, and European Commission are among a few of the clients for whom he has undertaken assignments. He has had extensive interactions with professionals from the United States, Europe, Africa and some Asian countries. He has served on committees for the Government of India, Government of Maharashtra, Confederation of Indian Industries, University of Pune, etc., he has acted as project guide to number of students; is an accredited Mentor for the entrepreneurship programs of the Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust, and has also held Honorary Professorship at the Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai. He has been Adjunct Faculty at the College of Engineering Pune, PVG’s College of Engineering and Technology, Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s College of Engineering etc. and has served on various committees for these and other colleges, including SSPMS’s College of Engineering and the Army Institute of Technology. He has several research papers, a few books and number of patent applications to his credit.
