Yours may even be sitting on a shelf collecting dust right now.I get it. You’re not a writer or looking to trade in your career to become one. You’re just passionate about your journey and want to share your experiences through story without sacrificing your family time or career. That’s where I come in.Hi, I’m Nitara Osbourne, screenwriter, producer, director, two-time Amazon bestselling editor, and founder of The Infinite Writer Agency.Telling your story is one of the most empowering things you can do.I know because sharing mine completely changed my life. As an openly gay Black woman, I’ve dealt with my share of discrimination, judgment, and personal attacks. My first TV pilot was a creative way to explore an ugly experience where religious protesters at a Pride event felt the need to shame and verbally abuse people who were just celebrating being proud of who they are. All I could think was: “God has the worst salespeople ever.”That moment was the birth of my TV series “Chosen?”I took that one line and all of the varying degrees of negative emotions that I experienced that day and channeled it into creating a series, a world, and strong, multilayered characters that I was proud of. Years before that, I wrote, produced, and directed “Running on Empty Dreams,” a movie based on my coming out story. As a result, I won 3 prestigious Telly Awards, and even more importantly, found my voice, finally came out to the world, and unlocked the true joy that I’d been hiding all of my life. Now, I help other women navigate the entertainment industry, streamline the writing process, and bring their stories to life through online courses, 1:1 mentorships, and start-to-finish screenwriting/ghostwriting services. Contact me today and let me help you share your story.

I would make up stories and entertain the student body. It was my then narrow-minded understanding of journalism that prompted me to want to major in the subject so that I can write entertaining stories for a living. However, once I was in college, I quickly understood what journalism entailed, and although I appreciate objective news reporting, I was more excited about creating stories. One day in December of 1997, I saw what would become one of my favorite horror films (Scream 2), and was automatically inspired to write scripts. I felt that I found the medium that I could flourish in. I was on a mission to become a successful screenwriter. I created my first script only to be faced with countless rejections from literary agents. I continued to write screenplays. To study movies. To study scripts. I began to get contracted to write scripts for others, including producers. After writing for over two decades, I have over 40 scripts, treatments, and series' episodes completed. My screenwriting has won three distinguished Telly Awards, of which I helped to solidify a distribution deal that led to my name being in Blockbuster, Netflix, Best Buy, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.com. Private clients hire me to help develop their stories. Hollywood Weekly commissions me to write stories for its clients to enhance their influence. To think that this all started because I enjoyed telling stories in my high school newspaper. Since creating my own life story in the form of a produced movie, I'm drawn to helping other people tell their story--whether it is in the form of a memoir, ghostwriting, co-authoring a nonfiction book, or adapting a story into a screenplay. This is a feature-length film about a part of my personal life story about coming out after marriage. The film won three prestigious Telly Awards, was in Blockbusters nationwide, and can now be purchased on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.com. After the success with Running On Empty Dreams, I wanted to create a new production company that specifically reflected more of the types of stories that I wanted to tell to serve the LGBT demographic, but in a more empowering way. Enter Balanced Entertainment Films, LLC. This production company creates dramatic fictional films and web series’ that portray worlds with strong and major LGBT characters, specifically lesbians. Nevertheless, we also create dramatic films and series’ that do reflect the realities and experiences of those in the LGBT community in order to initiate a poignant and positive social impact on how those in the LGBT community and outsiders view themselves and each other in relation to religion.Furthermore, at the core of these productions (i.e., episodes and films) is a reflection of strong lesbian characters with high self-esteem and self-worth who face obstacles, and overcome them or survive them. They love themselves, love how they stand in the world, and are proud of who they are without apologizing for it. Combating the perpetual battle of religious persecution in connection with the LGBT community is at the heart of the majority of these productions. Show less

He attended Tulane University and I attended Loyola University a few steps away on the same street in the city known as the "Big Easy." After he researched my background, he tested my writing skills with an assignment, and I've been writing for the magazine since. I started interviewing celebrities and entrepreneurs, and found myself captivated by the amazing individuals that I had the opportunity to encounter as a journalist. I enjoy interviewing inspiring individuals, but it's the quiet time that I get to "spend" creating each client's story around the interviewed content that makes writing these articles so special. It's exciting and rewarding as a writer that the majority of my stories have made the cover, but what moves me even more so is that I get to discover the heart of the individuals. Show less

However, this particular one turned out to be one of my favorite courses to teach because I had the opportunity to connect with my college students and pull out the greatness that I knew was already inside of them by giving them a safe place to present their ideas and passions to their classmates. Because my course was a required one to take, I was able to meet students from all walks of life and with multiple artistic interests. This includes fields from culinary, film, fashion design, interior design, to game design, and everything in between. I realized that every artist wants to spend their time doing what they love, and that all of my students wanted to eventually make a living doing just that. After leaving the teaching field to pursue writing full time, I still felt connected to my former students through our love of our respective artistic endeavors. I continued to mentor former students when I could, but it didn't seem to be enough. That's when it dawned on me that I could start a blog that would serve the same supportive nature that I served when I worked as a college professor. The UnCloseted Professor blog was birthed as an idea to provide advice and guidance to entrepreneurial artists, and has evolved into guiding entrepreneurs in general. It's currently over 36,000 subscribers strong, and growing! Show less

However, this was a new experience altogether because this would be my very first online course, which came with its own challenges and rewards alike. The same rules for screenwriting that I used in my traditional course applied in this online course, but I had to work that much harder to connect with students. I knew if I could connect with people, I could help them to find the stories within themselves that they wanted to tell. I made myself available via email and scheduled phone calls. Some students simply needed to "talk" through their stories in order to write them the most effectively. I realized that the only difference between an online course and a traditional one is the face-to-face contact. As long as I made the effort to pull out the greatness that already existed within my students and to provide a safe environment for them to expand their minds, teaching was always the same regardless of the format. In Effective Speaking and Storytelling, I learned how to connect with others and how to bring that human connection to writing. In English, I’ve learned to focus more on helping others to be stronger communicators in written form. Teaching at The Art Institute was a pleasant surprise. My goal in teaching at the college level was to help screenwriters to be successful. However, I was able to teach a workshop on character development to the local film community in Arizona, and it so happened that an employee of The Art Institute of Phoenix was sitting in the audience listening to me that evening. This young lady was impressed with my delivery, and asked if I would be interested in teaching at The Art Institute while continuing to teach Screenwriting at Scottsdale Community College. I was interested, but didn't jump on the opportunity immediately. Soon enough, however, I was teaching at both colleges and it was the best decision that I could've ever made. Watching students transform as public speakers was one of the most amazing experiences that I could have ever been a part of. I had the opportunity to see so many gain confidence, articulate themselves more effectively, and even get jobs because of what they learned in my class. Show less -
