Nitesh Shrestha has completed his Master's degree in Hydropower Development from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway and Master's degree in Earthquake from Purbanchal University, Nepal. He has taken core courses related to hydropower and earthquake such as Hydrological modeling, Headworks & sedimentation, Modeling of water resources, Prefeasibility of Hydropower, Planning of Hydropower, Earthquake resistant design, Geotechnical earthquake engineering and Structural dynamics including rock engineering courses such as Engineering geology and tunnelling, Basic course and Engineering geology of rock, Advanced course during his graduate study.His master's degree thesis is related to evaluation of stability condition on hydropower tunnels with reference to block & wedge falls and plastic deformation. For earthquake engineering, his second master's thesis relates to seismic performance evaluation of RC frames considering soil structure interaction. He is keenly interested in working for planning, design, investigation and assessing of potentiality of new hydropower plants. He is the full time hydropower engineer at Hydro Tunnelling and Research Pvt. Ltd. His work experiences include Civil engineering works at Cross Momentum Engineer's Pvt. Ltd. Also, he has had a student assistantship position at Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, NTNU, teaching assistantship at Department of Civil Engineering, Kathmandu University and a research trainee at Kulekhani-III Hydroelectric project, a government owned hydropower project in Nepal.About software skills and experiences on programming, they include Civil3D, AutoCAD, RocScience tools (for tunnels), Geostudio (dams), ArcGIS, Hecras (Hydrological modeling), MatLAB, Octave, Microsoft packages, SAP2000 for structural analysis, Monte Carlo simulation and Excel optimization.
