Setting a new strategic direction for Howden Australia, I have created a lean, customer-first organisation that has empowered teams and accelerated growth in a mature market. Notably, we have forged entry into the renewables segment, reduced dependency on mining projects and added millions of dollars in new revenue. Simultaneously, I have worked with teams across Australia, Europe and Asia to execute sustainable commercial strategies, with improved pricing and manufacturing operations improving profit margins by more than 2-fold. Serving as the Asia Pacific representative in the global leadership team, I delivered the 2020 strategic plan to exceed financial targets – despite the significant impact of the COVID-19 crisis. I went on to set the 2021 growth strategy for the region, and through improved commercial and customer strategies, exceeded revenue and profit expectations. Crucially, I increased the waste-to-energy projects pipeline by 20% and secured a major Tunnel Ventilation Project, the first of its kind in Australia. With accountability for 300 remote employees across APAC, I also invested in improved engagement and communication activities, ensuring continued focus and performance via clear responsibilities and regular strategy discussions.

A transformational leadership role, I built the capability and profile of the regional finance team, creating a value-add business partnering function that played an active role in achieving growth targets. Importantly, I developed and executed a portfolio of innovation and continuous improvement projects, including the implementation of Microsoft AX Dynamics ERP in Australia, and the migration of Accounts Receivable, Payable and Financial Accounting processes to Howden’s global shared service centre in Budapest. A commercial role, I also managed the set-up of Howden’s local subsidiaries in Vietnam and Indonesia and supported negotiations for multimillion-dollar contracts.

Appointed 2iC to the CFO, I led financial and planning efforts for General Electric (GE) in Australia, New Zealand and PNG. A period of significant change, I also played a key role in the divestiture of GE Finance, a multibillion-dollar business, and the dissolution of a multimillion-dollar network hub. I was committed to ensuring financial stability and continuity, executing a series of continuous improvements that reduced reporting times, improved forecasting accuracy and enabled data-led decision making at C-level. I also supported public campaigns to influence government policy changes around renewables, contributing to significant wins in wind turbine projects. My efforts were recognised by receiving the Regional CFO Award.
