About Nithin Raghunathan

I’m an electrical engineer by day — and a flight instructor by night (and weekends).I earned my Electrical and Computer Engineering Ph.D. from Purdue University in 2014 with a focus on the development of wireless sensors and systems. I worked for Purdue University for almost a decade as a Staff Scientist for the Birck Nanotechnology Center. I was involved in the development of IoT wireless sensors and sensor networks for various industrial and agricultural applications. I’ve written two textbooks for the courses I instructed. My work has been featured in thirteen publications and twelve conference papers. In addition, I have two patents related to wireless sensors. Currently, I’m a Senior Associate at Exponent, which is an engineering and scientific consulting firm. My work often includes design reviews and engineering analysis of electrical systems. My projects focus on industrial accidents, printed circuit board (PCB) design, and control system failures. I have experience with code and standard reviews, IoT networks, RF systems, embedded systems, electrical design analysis, PCB design analysis, IP matters, and fire investigations. When I’m not working, I’m flying. I’ve been a flight instructor at Purdue Aviation for two years and have logged more than 1,350 hours of flying. I’m an FAA Gold Seal Flight Instructor in single, multi-engine airplanes, and instrument flying. I hold a Commercial Pilot License in single-engine, multi-engine, and single-engine float planes. I’m also a Commercial Drone Operator. As a dog owner, I’m passionate about volunteering with Pilots N Paws, a nonprofit organization that facilitates puppy rescues across the country.
