Roles and responsibilities: • Conceptualized, planned, led and executed a research project on "Metabolic Engineering of Marine Bacteria for the Production of Isobutanol in Saltwater". • The project was awarded the Biotechnology Ignition Grant by the Department of Biotechnology (GoI) for 5 Million Rupees. • It involved the engineering of seaweed metabolizing marine bacteria to produce isobutanol.• Member of product development team – providing inputs and support for all process development activities to scale from laboratory to factory. • Involved in collaborative research with other R&D organizations and academics • Involved in setting and establishing the laboratory facilities, lab documentation, equipment and lab management protocols

Investigated Hyaluronic Acid production in chemostat fermentation of recombinant L.lactis strains. Developed a mathematical model and to carry out Flux Balance Analysis for the process. Identified potential metabolic bottlenecks to increase the yield HA production. The research work resulted in an oral presentation titled "Hyaluronic acid production in metabolically engineered Lactococcus lactis NZ9000: Bioreactor studies and flux balance analysis" at the 1st ECAB conference at Berlin and it also won the best talk award at an International Bioprocess Industry-Academia Symposium.
