Nitin is the Country Head for Data Privacy for India, South Asia Cluster and Sub-Sahara African countries. As the Data Privacy Officer (DPO) for around 50 countries, he is responsible for leading the privacy organization and privacy compliance program for all divisions and business service functions. His responsibilities include implementing data privacy initiatives and processes, PIAs, risk and compliance assessments and governance across Novartis entities in the South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa clusters. He collaborates with the Global Privacy team to ensure implementation of global business processes in line with local laws and business needs. He partners with the business teams to comply with local data protection laws and Novartis policies and guidelines. He supports local and global teams to handle inspections, audits and privacy incidents. He is responsible for running training and awareness programs for business divisions and business service teams. He keeps track of developments in local data protection and privacy laws, their interpretation, gap analysis and implementation of appropriate programs to ensure compliance.He is well-versed with Pharma business processes for Clinical Trial, Patient Support Programs, Managed Access Programs, RWD / RWE, etc.; advanced technologies such as AI / ML, Blockchain, secure processing being used in these processes and managing privacy risks arising from the same.
