Nitin is a Knitwear Design graduate from NIFT New Delhi and a Brand Marketing post-graduate from Nottingham Trent University, UK. He was selected for a student exchange program that gave him an opportunity of doing one semester of his under-graduation at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco CA.After completing his education, he returned home and joined the Fashion Design Council of India as a social media intern. Digital space was something new to both FDCI and him. This opportunity allowed him to enhance his knowledge and it was a constant process of learning, unlearning and relearning. Slowly he was exposed to the world of PR and with his robust hard work and perseverance, his skillset grew up along with the organisation.At FDCI, he worked for India’s biggest fashion events – India Fashion Week, India Couture Week and many more. He has also done many national and international projects/events on Indian handloom and textiles with the Ministry of Textiles, DC (Handlooms), Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). His brainchild “FDCI Insights” was initiated during the pandemic, wherein the fashion community held online conversations with positive reinforcements, on possibilities for the upliftment of stakeholders in the industry. This initiative spread a ray of hope and united the fraternity with a message of being #InThisTogether. Apart from that, he has conceptualised and executed various other social media campaigns for FDCI over the last 5 years. He was in the core team of the country’s first digital and phygital fashion weeks, leading the digital marketing team.During his tenure at FDCI, under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles (Government of India), he has led many viral digital campaigns like #IWearHandloom, #CottoninCool, #Vocal4Handmade, etc.After 7 glorious years at FDCI, he ventured out on his own with FIVE POINT FIVE, a brand of saris from the soul. Five Point Five is ALL ABOUT SARIS, and the name itself is a direct representation of the usual length of a Sari. All the products of Five Point Five are directly sourced from the weavers and artisans of various clusters, across the country. Each piece is personally handpicked for those who love to drape and scream ‘pleats please!’
