• Assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of various systems to include servers, LPARs, and software applications. • Monitors, plans, and coordinates the distribution of client/server software and service packs. • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible… Show more • Assists in the planning, design, documentation, and implementation of various systems to include servers, LPARs, and software applications. • Monitors, plans, and coordinates the distribution of client/server software and service packs. • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. • Keeping servers up to date by upgrading them with latest versions of Operating systems and service packs.• Migrate server from POWER5 to POWER 6 & POWER 7.• Employing appropriate security mechanisms to achieve accreditation of the system and to ensure compliance with security policies.• Monitor and progress all assigned task and as appropriate follow allprocesses and procedures for problem, change, configuration, capacity andinventory management.• Liaising with security vendors, suppliers, service providers and external resources; analyzing, recommending, installing and maintaining software security applications; and monitoring contractual obligations, performance delivery and service level agreement.• Compile and communicate progress and issues arising from the Operating system up-grade• Recommend & performed disk upgrade according to Client business data growth.• Makes recommendations for new equipment and services to purchase and works with various vendors for procurement. • To ensure that any potential problems are highlighted timely. i.e. performance degradation, reliability and security issues are addressed proactively.• Analyzing logs and providing solutions to the end users across the globe.• Adding, modifying, and deleting user/group accounts and set up a user’s work environment and fulfills user’s needs.• Create Disaster Recovery documentations.• Provides emergency on-call support on a rotating schedule.
