I’m a curious researcher fascinated by the microcosmic universe within our skull. For my Ph.D., I am specifically focused on decoding the interaction between Dopamine and Medium Spiny Neurons (MSN) that is ever unfolding and known to play a vital role in the direct and indirect pathways of the Basal Ganglia. Apart from the well established role of dopamine as a reward prediction error signal (RPE) for value‑based learning, it has also been implicated as a short‑term motivational signal. Under the framework of competitive model for action selection, we are trying to decode the role of these motivational signals on dMSN and iMSN. Although my focus is on sub‑cellular signaling and neuronal modeling, I am also fascinated by how the neuronal activity dynamically affect the pathways of Basal Ganglia leading to different behavioral effects in health and disease.
