I am passionate about hospital medicine, lifestyle medicine and evidence based approaches to optimizing health and longevity. I have a decade of experience practicing hospital medicine and am involved in numerous quality and leadership initiatives, including improving interprofessional collaboration, improved patient care and improving efficiency and flow within the hospital setting. In addition to acute care medicine, I work with individuals and corporations to offer practical, research-based approaches to improving overall mental and physical health, lowering risk of chronic diseases like cancer, cardiovascular disease and better managing chronic diseases. My special focus is to optimize gut health and the gut microbiome to address not only digestive health issues, but also improve metabolic health (like diabetes risk, weight management), immune health, mood and energy, promote hormonal health as well as healthy aging and longevity. Acute care medicine is challenging and rewarding. However, too often patients have advanced disease and devastating consequences of longstanding chronic diseases. As I continue to help them in the hospital setting, I am inspired to also take a proactive approach to healthcare and spread evidence-based information on factors that support health, wellbeing, and healthy aging to reduce the burden of chronic disease, thereby leading to a happier and healthier population.I completed medical school and residency training in Family Medicine from McMaster University. I have completed training in Lifestyle Medicine and fellowship training in Integrative Medicine from the University of Arizona. I have completed Physician Leadership Training through the Ontario Medical Association. The Society of Hospital Medicine has conferred me with Fellow of Hospital Medicine Designation. I also hold Assistant Clinical Professor appointment at McMaster University and am actively involved in medical and clinical residency education.
