I was doing what I loved, coaching clients, speaking and running motivational events... but I had no clue about business model or profitability, and I was pretty much winging it hoping for the best! As much as I loved my work, I became stressed out and burned out with over work and worry, and I knew something had to change. Luckily, this business had afforded me enough experience to take what I had learned and turn it into something AMAZING - and so I did. I packed up my home, sold my car, and left the UK to spend 3 months in Australia writing my first book. I took my business online, flipped my business model, started charging my worth based on the results I can create for clients, and made $35,000 in the first 35 days of my new adventure.

Personal experience with family members and friends, as well as shocking global statistics, inspired the creation of a program delivered to support players in transferring the mindset and networking skills they had developed within their sporting careers, into building a new career in the business world.

Founder, Event DirectorParkrun May 2009 - Jun 2011Newcastle Upon TyneI noticed the opportunity to create an experience to support people in reaching their goals and live with more happiness through physical exercise - so I decided to stand in a field every Saturday morning for a few years to try it out. I set up and led a weekly community 5km run in a park in Newcastle, under the parkrun brand. As Founder & Event Director I managed a team of 50 volunteers, and grew the run from 36 runners who turned out in the snow for the first pilot run, to more than 10,000 runners registered in the North East of England. I wrote a positive psychology research paper about the impact of parkrun upon psychological flourishing, and discovered the experience satisfied all of the criteria within the PERMA theory of wellbeing. -

I can safely say that standing up to teach psychology and sport sciences to a lecture theatre of 18-25 year olds was one of the most nerve racking things I've ever done! The experience definitely prepared me well for speaking on stage in front of thousands, allowed me to discover which areas of theory I love to teach and coach on, and helped me practice the skills and techniques to help create breakthroughs and support progress for a range of learning styles. -
