Gauteng Premier’s Special Advisor on Economic Policy – On the following areas:• Provide monthly economic briefings on variables of interest such as GDP, Employment, Consumer spending, investment trends and economic nodes.• Analyse spending patterns data provided by Provincial Treasury and brief the Premier• Update sector information from Stats SA and the profiling of economic sectors within Gauteng, i.e, Auto, Agro-processing, BPS, Capital Equipment.• Lead the economic modelling and data analytics team. Do policy interpretation of modelling results.• The technical process of these reports includes, preparing the data spreadsheets, preparing the graphs and running forecasts of the relevant economic variables.• Participate as a member of the Premier’s Budgeting Council that considers fiscal allocations to departments. Prepare spending reports from data provided by Treasury.• Work with the team that puts together the Economic Barometer report (a forecasting and scenarios report) and help the Premier to think through his policy positions.• Prepare quarterly international trade mapping reports and regional trade trends.• International trade liason and market facilitation for Gauteng Companies• Co-ordinate CEO and Heads of Economic Cluster Departments & updates on economic development work.
