1. Examining and Analysing samples to study the effects of microbial infections.• As Medical Technologist, Mr Cachila is responsible for collecting swab samples, preparing stained smears( Gram's stain, AFB, KOH), performing microscopic examinations of the prepared smears and reporting the results of the exam.2. Preparing Tissue Sections for microscopic examinations.• As a Medical Technologist, Mr. Cachila does the preparation of the smear and staining of the Peripheral Blood Smears and Pap's smear for the examination of the Pathologists.3. Analysing Samples of body tissue and fluids to develop techniques to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.• Prepares and analyzes Blood in Chemistry, Hematology and Serology examinations.• Performs Urine and Semen analysis(Physical, Chemical and Microscopic examinations).• Performs Stool analysis( Fecal Occult blood and Microscopic examinations).4. Advising Medical Practitioners on the interpretation of tests and methods for the use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.• Clarifies results, recommends tests and helps doctors, nurses and other medical personnel in the interpretation of results.5. Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.• Has practical and theoretical knowledge on the usage and maintenance of Automated Chemistry and Hematology analyzer, Coagulation analyzer and Special Serology analyzer6. Maintaining laboratory quality assurance and safety standards• Performs all the controls and makes sure that the machines and laboratory equipment are all calibrated before running the tests.• Adheres to the safety proper safety procedures set by the laboratory and the Department of Health.
