Mr. Cook is an experienced healthcare and laboratory professional with more than twenty-five years of experience building-out and leading high-performing finance and accounting teams. Prior to joining QDx Pathology, in August 2021, Steve served as Chief Financial Officer of SEPA Labs. There, he contributed to the organic growth of the business by increasing revenues through internalization of Revenue Cycle Management and capturing professional component charges on clinical diagnostic testing and greatly enhancing claims management. He successfully led its principals in the sale of the business to Pathgroup, Inc. in 2019 and later led QDx Pathology to a successful sale of its business to LAB Genomics in August 2023.Mr. Cook earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rutgers University and is a certified public accountant.

Recommended and Led the Internalization of Revenue Cycle Management. Implemented XIFIN BI, RCM solution saving the company > $3.0M annually in fees and lost revenue. Led the reorganization of company’s logistics operation saving the company $1.2M annually. Eliminated outsourced Accounting and IT Consultants- saving the Company > $1.1M annually. Converted company’s financial reporting from Cash to Accrual / GAAP basis Accounting. Led financial due diligence resulting in the sale of the company in 2019.

Implemented an internal control, compliance & audit program pursuant to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (“SOX 404). Established and maintained all aspects of internal control over financial reporting, pursuant to the requirements of “SOX 404”, including documentation, risk assessment, testing, remediation, (as necessary) and certifications. Responsible for preparation of all SEC reporting requirements including 1934 Act filings 10-K and 10-Q, as well as Section 16 filings. Led annual Big 4 (PWC) Audit and quarterly reviews.
