Ever since I was young, I've always believed that if I'm not doing something, I should be doing something. It's what made me get my first job at 14 and what led me to be employed by four separate establishments simultaneously while taking my GSCEs.Having gained experience, I have recently held back a little on paid work to focus on my role as Head Boy and achieving high grades in my subjects. This year, I've found myself in a volunteering role at Chroma Church in Leicester. My Sundays are spent helping out in the kids' group, running activities, dances and arts and crafts for ages 3 up to 10. Leading activities is something that came quickly to me, probably because of my large family; as one of nine children, I have always had a role in keeping the household running, simply because if everyone didn't chip in and help out, the place wouldn't run. Just after the pandemic, due to my homeschooling, I had five months ahead of me that allowed me to gain experience from working at Ham Polo Club using skills I gained from one of my previous jobs.I worked six days a week there and had a decent salary, even for an adult, which helped me learn about tax and national insurance. It was a large part of my life and has shaped me massively.Meeting people from all corners of the world and learning to be self-dependent (in London) was amazing, and I even went back for the summer of 2023 to fill the role of grounds manager. From there, I came to sixth form and began to get involved in my studies; where I currently have a role in the senior team and help out in a year 7 form, leading activities for the students once a week.
