Apr 2021 - Apr 2022

Principal Ultrasound Engineer Advanced Development

Hardware/System design and validation of novel Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) synthetic aperture phased array imaging catheters for deep venous applicationsVerasonics programming for synthetic aperture phased array.

Jun 2021 - Mar 2022

Principal Systems Engineer- Acoustic Engineer

Design, development, modeling and testing of underwater acoustic transducers and signal processing algorithms for SONAR applications.

Nov 2018 - Apr 2021

Senior R&D Ultrasound Engineer

Greater Boston Area

Piezoelectric transducer design and optimization for macro-scale acoustophoresis. Transducers are designed to generate ultrasonic standing waves that capture, separate, and manipulate particles or cells in a fluid. It is a new tool that provides unique advantages across multiple industries including life sciences, bioprocessing, and cell therapy manufacturing.

Aug 2017 - Nov 2018

Ultrasound Engineer

Irvine

Lead ultrasound engineer. Oversaw the design, build, and testing of prototype non-invasive photo-acoustic diagnostic devices. Sensor designs were piezoelectric based elements for the in-vivo detection of optically generated ultrasound waves. Led forward-looking research and development, to learn, adapt and incorporate new ultrasonic technologies into medical diagnostic products. Moved on due to moral and ethical concerns with project direction and motivation.

Nov 2016 - Aug 2017

Senior Research Engineer

Responsible for the design, execution, and analysis of high speed 3D motion capture experiments at the Titleist Performance Institute as co-leader of advanced testing. In this role I develop statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms to effectively analyze data and produce more accurate and repeatable results. These results are clearly conveyed through concise standardized test reports. The processing and reporting of this data has been automated using a combination of coding languages. These improvements significantly reduce testing and processing time allowing development engineers to more effectively meet design goals. I am also responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of new motion capture products (inertial and marker based) to identify potential use cases within the business

Jan 2015 - Nov 2016

Senior Research Engineer

Greater San Diego Area

Developed acoustic test protocol to directly correlate golf club structural attributes key acoustic parameters during impact such as peak resonance, peak pressure, sound quality, and loudness. Correlations were used to drive design changes to tune sound signature to match desired specs provided by industrial designers. Designed and execution acoustic testing protocol to evaluate parts at vendors overseas, providing industrial designers a way to efficiently validate acoustical design changes on a limited number of production samples and greatly reduce the number of wasted parts.Wrote and implemented signal processing software to artificially add/remove frequency content to test recordings. This software gave industrial designers the ability to simulate potential design changes and quantify and hear the affect those changes may have on the sound of the club, saving months of development time and millions of dollars in aggregate Utilized a combination of marker and sensor based motion capture techniques to quantify dynamical and bio-mechanical differences in the golfer’s experiences with golf equipment and apparel. Used 3D motion capture data to replicate individual golf swings in testing robot. Developed novel test platforms and techniques to increase the accuracy and precision of robot test results, greatly reducing the number of tests requests and the time needed to perform the tests.

Apr 2011 - Jan 2015

Research Engineer

Department Of Mechanical Engineering

After finishing my advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering concentrating in Acoustics, I accepted a faculty research appointment in the Physical Acoustics Lab at Boston University. In this position, I mentored graduate and doctoral students through their research projects and conducted my own research. My research focused on the generation, propagation, and detection of acoustic waves and the subsequent interactions of these waves with the surrounding matter. Some of research topics included; shock wave lithotripsy, high intensity focused ultrasound surgery for thermal ablation, and cavitation generation, collapse and damage mitigation. To do this I applied a combination of experimental measurement, high speed imaging, numerical calculation, and theoretical analysis to carry out this work. During my appointment I helped to grow the lab and spearheaded projects conducting experiments at the Oak Ridge and Los Alamos National Labs.

Sep 2009 - Apr 2011

Mechanical Analyst

Preformed structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of various radar components.Consulted design engineers on noise and vibration control techniques in the design of coolant systems for various radar components. Characterized critical Radar performance parameters under various environmental conditions, using Monte-Carlo simulation. Results published in IEEE.Predicted Doppler frequency shifts in a phased array radar associated with ships motion in various sea states.
