I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I've had a lot of detours in life. But I have confidence that none of these are wasted. I hope my life and service can be of meaning to some. I believe that our value doesn't come from what we accomplish or perform, but who we are, beloved by God.I've chased a lot of success in my life, which led me to get into schools like Harvard Business School and Oxford; receive a political appointment as well as lucrative investment banking offers. But I've never felt more alive and at peace than being hidden in the woods or a chapel praying in secret. Or just being with someone sick or dying in the hospital. Or trying to support those starting something new and radically different. I believe in family, the power of authentic love, in a God who just warmly gazes on me with a proud smile, in giving people 5th and 6th chances, in saying I'm sorry, and quiet time at the beach. After starting a management consulting practice, I had a major conversion experience - an encounter with God - I can't describe it any other way - and left everything to enter a monastery with an ancient Catholic Order called the Carmelites (founded in the 12th cent). I lived a monastic life with the Carmelites for 7.5 years in which we prayed 4 hours a day, cleaned, cooked, ministered to those in need, studied and taught spirituality. Eventually, after studying the lives of saints who had led new movements in the Catholic tradition, I felt called to serve Catholic founders and builders. This service has evolved into a community called SENT. With a small team, we give founders practical tools to take their ventures to the next level and, with Gods grace, perhaps become saints in the journey. I have a deep yearning to share what I learned in 7+ years of monastic life with the world, which I share through Monk Mindset, a media platform to make the wisdom of the monastic tradition accessible and actionable to a broader audience.
