• Developed a 1-D engine cooling system model to support Isuzu's model based development efforts, which was accurate and predictive. Key achievments -
• Removed defects in the complex water jacket geometry and preprocessed it to make it ready for accurate simulations
• Performed CFD simulations of engine water jackets using Converge for various steady state conditions to obtain a database of pressure losses and heat transfer over the engine’s operating range.
• Calibrated the 1-D water jacket model to match the CFD database with a worst accuracy of 90% for any point over the operating range using GT-Suite
• Developed models of EGR Cooler, Turbo Cooler, Exhaust Injector cooler and Cabin Heater based on first principles, in order to overcome the lack of testing data.
