I have been working on a variety of differnt projects; including some game development related in Lua, Node.js and Typescript. I have developed several Home Assistant home automation integrations. Recently I have been working on a React Native app (ios/android) which is not yet released.

Development and maintenance of existing Quest Database tools products. Development of prototype and proof of concept tools for future products. Development of subscription microservices and web interface to integrate with Quest/Toad tools on a variety of platforms.

Development of spotlightcloud.io - An AngularJS app for SQL Server performance monitoring and diagnostics. Large scale refactoring of multiple apps to bring up to date and allow for ongoing maintenance. Adding new features, security enhancements and improvements to CI/CD workflows.

I developed new microservices in Node.js to augment new and existing Toad products. I improved UI/UX for existing web platforms, and migrated legacy systems to modern platforms. I developed automated build and test systems with continuous deployment to cloud based containers for the new services.

I led the AngularJS development for the Dell Cloud Manager web application. I also managed front end development build tools, CI/CD and workflow. I automated anything that could save developers time or increase quality. I reviewed code and encouraged more test coverage within the front-end team. I worked extensively with the UX team to create the best possible user experience.

I worked with the team at APN to roll out new features and updates to the nzherald.co.nz website.NZ Herald is New Zealand’s leading news site and winner of the Best News Website at the Qantas Media Awards for the past three years. With more than 3 million unique browsers a month NZ Herald provides some interesting challenges...

Developed various intranet applications including rebuilding the applications for the management and accounting of tours. Performance optimisation of existing SQL. Building jQuery widgets to enhance workflow and UX. Constructing unit tests and end to end tests for the accounting process.

I was the technical lead for Gruden's NZ based projects. This included projects for Genesis Energy, Cavalier Bremworth, Auckland Regional Council, Think Brick, The Fine Wine Delivery Company and more...Our projects were largely ColdFusion and Shado based (a ColdFusion based "CMS").Gruden closed their NZ offices to focus more on their Australian Market.

I built websites for most of their magazines including Girlfriend, Total Girl, Marie Claire, K-Zone, Mens Health, Home and Garden etc. I also provided support and maintenance for all their websites and their content teams over this period. When pacific magazines bought some of the Murdoch magazines I built new sites for these and helped migrated content from their old sites (Lotus Domino, bleh!).The websites were ColdFusion + Spectra based and also included my own Spectra enhancements. After the merger with Yahoo the websites were eventually replaced with Yahoo's proprietary system, I helped them with this transition period.

OnlineOffice is a Vancouver based startup, the project essentially being a “Facebook for Businesses”. Initially the project was based on Flash/CF which I helped migrate to a CF/Flex + Cairngorm model. I organised and worked with a team of six developers.

I built the backend for what was to be a generic platform for all their websites. While I was there I implemented it for their NZHerald.co.nz website. The backend was built as per their specifications in a solaris/sybase/coldfusion environment.

My work for Pumpkin Patch was mostly focused on their Database, Inventory Control and Warehousing Systems. Their entire operation was based on one large MSSQL transactional database which would process millions of transactions a day. While I was working for them I helped them to replace their archaic inventory control software with their own in house developed system (ColdFusion and MSSQL). The MSSQL work was very interesting, with the amount of transactions they process everything needed to be optimised.
