I am a dedicated biochemist with a robust academic background and a deep commitment to advancing scientific understanding. Currently pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry at Loyola University Chicago, my research centers on investigating the structural biology and kinetics of pyridoxal-5’-phosphate dependent macromolecules, particularly Bacillus subtilis GabR and human GABA aminotransferase. My experimental approach integrates techniques such as X-ray crystallography to elucidate molecular structures and dynamics critical for developing novel therapeutic strategies.Building on my MS in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Wayne State University, where my research focused on structural, functional, and drug design studies of the Zika virus NS2B-NS3 protease, I have honed expertise in fluorescence, stopped-flow, and UV-Vis spectroscopy for characterizing enzyme mechanisms and protein-ligand interactions. My proficiency extends to recombinant protein expression in E. coli, purification via FPLC, and biophysical characterization methods like fluorescence polarization (FP) for studying protein-DNA interactions.During my tenure as a Drug Discovery Intern at Cayman Chemical, I conducted structure-activity relationship analyses focused on Hematopoietic Prostaglandin D2 Synthase (H-PGDS) and conducted protein-ligand interaction studies using advanced techniques including X-ray crystallography, differential scanning fluorimetry, and fluorescence polarization. At Loyola University Chicago, I have also served as a Teaching Assistant, mentoring undergraduate students and guiding laboratory courses in chemistry and biochemistry, promoting a collaborative and engaging learning atmosphere.
