My deliverables were mutually agreed-upon contractual frameworks and budgets with Bayer’s partner institutions, which I conducted with a friendly and respectful approach. - Ensured the successful negotiation and on-going management of clinical trial agreements as well as budgets for conducting clinical trials with investigative sites.- Appraises contracts for completeness and accuracy and ensures adherence.- Worked cross functionally with Clinical Operations and Project Management in support of timely site start up for the conduct of clinical trials including accurate forecast of contract execution timelines.The following recognition was granted to me by the head of Bayer Canada's Site Management department, Doreen D'Souza. This was presented during a quarterly meeting to the entire Site Management group"I would like to recognize Nicholas Kanhai for his work in resolving a very challenging situation with one of our Investigators in a CRO run trial. The Investigator was quite upset with the CRO and did not want to continue on the study and additionally refused to speak with the CRO. Nicholas took the lead in managing this situation by listening and working with the Investigator over several weeks to turn his position around and negotiated a resolution that was acceptable. He had to work with various stakeholders to understand their needs to manage the challenge, ie Compliance, Legal, Medical Affairs, and the CRO. He had a well thought out plan and executed with diplomacy and finesse. He demonstrated a send of urgency and customer focus by keeping everyone informed about the plan on an ongoing basis. he also worked with the CRO to look at other sites/studies proactively to mitigate further risk." -

I used the video filming, editing and Adobe After Effects skills that I had obtained during my many backpacking trips to put together promotional videos for local businesses. As an example, I worked with the Laforge Biogas facility in New Brunswick in order to illustrate how a self-sustaining and environmentally friendly biogas facility functions. After several meetings with the lead engineer, I spent several days filming on site, after which I animated processes and recorded the voice work to pain a picture of how theBiogas facility produces clean, renewable energy by using cow manure and recycled foods from local food production plants. Loan/Programs OfficerCommunity Business Development Corporation (Cbdc) Aug 2012 - Mar 2015As a federally sponsored not-for-profit organization, the CBDC’s mandate as a high-risk lender is to bolster economic development in rural Canada through competitive loan packages for new and existing businesses.- Personally managed thirty-six portfolios worth upwards of $1.23 million in lent funds in a variety of sector including, but not limited to, forestry, trucking, restauranteering, and construction. Each loan required a firm understanding of how the funds would be used, how the industry performed in the region, and evaluated the company’s repayment capacity based on past performance and financial projections.- Met with existing and potential business owners, evaluated their needs, gathered data required to produce an in-depth risk-analysis for the possible lending of funds to their pre-existing or future businesses, presented findings to the board of directors for approval of financing. Further responsibilities for the position required the preparation of legal documentation including Chattel Mortgages, Affidavit of Corporate Executions, Promissory Notes, and Letters of Offers to clients, and that these be presented to our clients along with the terms and conditions for their final signature and approval.- Managed clients by maintaining lines of communication throughout the loan repayment period. Would often be required to help find other means of financing if the CBDC could not cover 100% of the project costs. This would necessitate taking a lead role in coordinating partnerships with local banks and personal financiers, then negotiating terms of the lending agreement including but not limited to the dividing of collateral and guarantees amongst lending partners.

I worked with them as an Intern, sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). Tasks included:- Wrote and edited two funding proposals for funding from the USA’s President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) for multiple projects, such as a café and ‘safe zone’ for the homosexual community, as well as a Health Center that offered free HIV/AIDS and STI tests.- Maintained regular communication with student groups and the homosexual communities in Hanoi, monitoring the progress of the peer-outreach project developed along with fellow SHAPC employees.- Was featured as the primary subject for an episode of the French Canadian Television series Professionnels sans frontières, depicting daily life and work in Vietnam as an international volunteer and intern for a professional NGO. The episode aired on Canadian television channels TFO and Radio Canada, and can now be viewed in the attached video below.
