I have always had a love of Maine, since my days as a kid sledding, skating, swimming & frogging in the local pond by my childhood home in Woolwich. I now live in Freeport with deer, fox & turkeys in the backyard. I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Maine and University of Southern Maine in Political Science and Government - and then went on to earn my law degree at the University of Maine Law School.I practiced law in the mid-coast region for several years, eventually leaving to open an independent, upscale Maine & Italian restaurant in Freeport - Azure Cafe - with my husband Jonas and children, Riley & Eddy in 2002. There I held the position of Chief Administrative Officer - developing financial goals and objectives, accounting, payroll, human resources, designing menus, wine tastings, as well as running the marketing side of the business where I oversaw thousands of followers on social media. As a consultant, I helped other business owners optimize their businesses using the latest technologies. During that time, I also followed my other passion, studying graphic design at MECA. I also managed rental properties and sold homes.I have organized and run charitable events, tirelessly pursued the improvement of education in local schools and oversaw the donation of tens of thousands of dollars a year from Azure Cafe to the midcoast community.
