Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional level work supporting,implementing, analyzing, maintaining, and managing computer hardware, software, databasesystems, communications, and network infrastructure, and the City website; performs relatedduties as assigned.

Under the direction of the Manager, Network Services, perform a variety of highly complex and specialized activities involved in the planning, design, set-up, installation, configuration, operation, development, modification, maintenance and repair of County Office and school district Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), intranet, internet and other network systems and related servers, equipment, hardware, software and applications; administer, analyze and assure proper use, connectivity, security and operation of County Office network systems.

The Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) serves more than 34,000 students and employs 3,000 teachers and staff. Twenty-five district level departments and forty-two schools make FUSD a high performing district. The Systems Specialist performs a critical role in the Information Technology Department. This position is responsible for the implementation, and maintenance of the district’s networks (WAN/LAN/WLAN, Intranet, Internet) and servers (site and district) including the hardware, software, and other related technology and coordinates with other department divisions, all while maintaining a high level of excellent customer service.

HP Labs Research Computing infrastructure and Labs Operations at Palo Alto, CA, US and Bristol, UK.Responsibilities included (1) HP Labs Infrastructure and IT Services – Manage the HP Labs data center and networking infrastructure, develop customized lab IT for HP Labs programs, projects, and work with global real-estate and contractors to build labs physical infrastructure to meet R&D needs. (2) Model Shop/Prototype Development - Custom machine shop which provides rapid prototyping capability and the design and manufacture of test benches for HP Labs projects. Software development to provide demonstration capability for prototypes. (3) Business Operations – Budgeting, Environmental Health and Safety audits and issues, business continuity, and space planning.

Hewlett Packard Labs Research Computing infrastructure at Palo Alto, CA.Responsibilities included: (1) Provide leadership, control and structure for the Palo Alto Platforms Team. Recruit, set objectives, monitor, review and coach staff performance; develop staff technical and personal skills required to successfully complete assignments. (2) Plan, organize, lead and control the resources necessary to implement agreed programs and deliver agreed services. (3) Participate in the development and management of services for HPLabs worldwide. Provide a robust, high performance, coherent, consistent and secure IT platform that supports and enhances HPLabs’ research program. Continuously monitor and stay abreast of HPLabs’ platform infrastructure requirements. Investigate, evaluate, develop and prototype platform infrastructure and technologies that enable RIT to meet the needs of the research program and support functions. (4) Link with and leverage Company-wide infrastructure processes and providers. Participate in company-wide infrastructure initiatives to ensure that the needs of HP Labs are met. (5) Advise RIT management on platforms issues and strategies.
