Nick Misselbrook has more than 24 years of experience in non-linear dynamic modelling of naval offshore structures and buildings subjected to explosions. He specializes in vulnerability assessment and consequence analysis of buildings and facilities to terrorist attack, including the protective design of these structures. Nick is a Principal Member of the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists.Nick works with a wide number of commercial and military clients on various types of projects. These include tasks at explosive processing facilities and storehouses, various European national banks and major financial institutions, the Buncefield oil storage and transfer depot in Hertfordshire, U.K. and the U.N. Conference Centre in Vienna, Austria. He has also performed work for various European national banks and major financial institutions.Nick spent nine years at the U.K. Ministry of Defence’s Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA), where he focused on the design and testing of blast-resistant naval structures.Outside of work, Nick is a keen runner, taking part in half marathons as well as Tough Mudder extreme obstacle events. He and his family like to travel and enjoy the great outdoors whenever possible. Their activities range from wilderness camping on the High Sierra Trail in Sequoia National Park, California, to hiking in the Karijini National Park in Western Australia.
