My role involved:• Managing disability leave claims by collaborating with the parties involved including the employee, management, and insurance carrier• Providing ongoing support and guidance to employees going on a disability leave• Liaising with the insurance carrier and the employee to help develop effective return to work (or gradual return to work) plans• Working with employees requiring medical accommodation and helping develop a plan that both accommodated the employee, and the business, while providing ongoing support to the employee as they work towards returning to their full hours and duties• Conducting ergonomic assessments for employees experiencing pain and discomfort at work and provide ergonomic solutions to help create a more comfortable working space• Managing the benefits module of First West’s HRIS system , ensuring accurate set up and data integrity related to benefit plans and to meet the internal and external data and reporting requirements• Remaining current and knowledgeable on policies and procedures relating to employment laws surrounding accommodation and management of employees with disabilities.
