I am currently working with Dr John Lee, on creating a Non-Parametric methodology to identify groups of well behaving similarly based on well’s production, geographic location, completion and architecture properties. One of the most significant challenges in the grouping methodology we are trying solve is the handling of mixed data types. This grouping could be extremely useful in construction of type wells and asset optimization problem which has an elevated significance in this oil price environment.

Research Title: "Applications of Inverse Theory & Machine Learning in Rate/Pressure Transient Analysis"I worked with Dr W. John Lee, to develop a new Decline curve analysis methodology integrating variable pressure and rate data into production forecasting to generate accurate forecasts of Estimated Ultimate Recovery (EUR), based on Inverse Theory and Physics of Fluid Flow in Unconventional Reservoirs. The methodology specifically employs a newly developed deconvolution algorithm based on elastic net regularization and local outlier factor based weighting mechanism, overcoming the challenges created because of the frequently observed poor quality of the production data. This research experience has given me advanced working knowledge of PRMS and SEC reserves booking rules and also made me proficient at Decline Curve Analysis and Reservoir Economics tools like Aries, PHDWin, and fekete Harmony. We also concurrently developed a Non-Parametric approach for outlier detection in rate/pressure transient analysis. In this research, I have also extensively worked with machine learning libraries like numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, pyMC, statsmodels, pandas in python and MATLAB.I secured Second Place in the SPE-UH Local Student Paper contest based on this research, with promising feedback from the industry experts who judged at the event.
