Architecture and evaluation of corporate IT solutions for application development, networking, and security. Worked with several teams on application architectures covering desktop, web front-end, and back-end applications. A typical desktop application architecture utilized C# and WPF. A typical web application transitioned from the typical post-back style ASP.Net applications to the single-page applications with JavaScript UI tools (Angular, React, JQuery) and microservice back-ends using Node or IIS with ASP.Net or containerized .Net Core.As part of the fracking automation effort, designed the architecture for the next generation sub-surface acoustic and temperature design, monitoring, and real-time analysis tool. Worked with the team using Agile to develop and deliver an effective way to utilize microservices at the edge and in the cloud for moving data in real- and near-real-time for consumption at the well-site and the back office. In a parallel effort, worked with the IT team to deploy a multi-tenant corporate Docker Enterprise cluster to host the cloud portion of the solution. The effort resulted in higher reuse of common components through containerized APIs and increasing qualities such as availability and scalability due to the use of containers.Delivery of a very chaotic and difficult set of requirements was achieved in a very short period of time due to the application of a microservice architecture with an extremely efficient asynchronous intra-microservice communication technique applied at the edge deployment. Utilizing DBPaaS NoSQL CosmoDB database services in Azure along with application tiers deployed in Docker cut the deployment time to minutes and increased the reliability of the system overall.

Streamlined moving the geophysical simulation model from R&D to production use resulting in delivery of the Cypher suite of software with the first stable fracture propagation simulator. This was accomplished by applying software integration patterns to incorporate the multiple languages and technologies used by R&D and software development.Designed the first realtime hydraulic pumping telemetry streaming from the wellsite. The implementation was delivered and successfully used in a field trial where previous system had repeatedly failed. This was accomplished by recognizing anti-patterns and inefficiencies in the existing system, then performing a redesign. I replaced non-working, inefficient customized components with open source components and a small layer of custom integration code.Accomplished moving decades worth of fracturing data from an inaccessible, proprietary format to a standardized columnar storage format in Hadoop. Several terabytes of historical data were moved to Hadoop as a revolutionary step forward in applying data science to decades of experience. This was accomplished by leading 2 teams to create components that enabled reading the proprietary data format at scale, integrating the proprietary data reading capability with code that wrote the data in Parquet format on HDFS, and designing tools to manage and monitor the scaled transformation.

Designed and implemented several high profile integration projects between public electric utility accounting/control systems and the eMeter EnergyIP Meter Data Management (MDM) platform. Some of these implementations were for large cities, and some of them had been funded with "city of the future" type of programs sponsored by the Obama administration. This allowed the smooth implementation of smart meters in these cities and the implementations were deemed quite successful. The success came from listening to the customer requirements, intuitively digging for important technical details to understand their underlying pain-points, and applying innovative approaches to implementing their requirements.Created the integration point for the Siemens Demand Response Management System (DRMS) to connect to the eMeter EnergyIP MDM system. This created the capability for public utilities to change power grid loads by having an automated method of businesses "opting in" to reduce power consumption in buildings where smart device controls would adjust power consumption based on demand. It was one of the first successful rollouts of such a technological capability and formed an industry model of a successful DRMS solution that could be duplicated across several public utilities.Participate in the Multispeak standards committee to help set standards for data exchange in the electric utility industry. I provided guidance on re-forming the specification's schemas to be more compatible with common software development practices. I additionally demonstrated to a meeting of committee members several methods to add integrated security via WS-Security such that Multispeak web services could be secured without requiring a major specification change. Consulting with GBS (government division). Worked on the DARPA F6 project using C++, later with an e-commerce company on a platform with components in SQL, VB6, and .Net. Worked to make sure the e-commerce platform was PCI compliant and improve performance.

Architecture and development for the XiPay and XiSecure product lines. Played a key role in building the SaaS platform to deliver XiPay (credit card processing) and XiSecure (card tokenization). I designed the XiSecure software and performed the majority of the initial implementation as an on-premise appliance. I later move the application off an appliance platform as part of the company’s strategy to become a SaaS solution provider of credit card processing and e-payment security.Played a key role in customer engagements for integrating SaaS solutions with customer systems. eCommerce integrations, PCI compliance, cryptography, key management.

Enhanced the popular Mekorma MICR payroll/patyables check printing application with a WYSIWYG check design tool. Worked with MICR and several other products (Credit Card Processing now owned by Nodus, Project Profit Tracking and Recurriling Billing now owned by Encore) that are add-ons for Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains.

Interactive television platform. Implemented a multi-user chat where users controlled Microsoft agent characters to chat via text-to-speech and play animations supported by each agent. The agents were further used as web content transmitted over a television signal in the vertical blanking interval (VBI) and served on the web as part of the interactive television portal development.

Worked as an audio/video engineer for various companies in Hollywood. Mostly worked behind the scenes providing maintenance and training for professional audio and video equipment. I would additionally provide general IT support for studio management software systems.From the maintenance perspective I was involved in troubleshooting electronics, providing system setup, signal routing for digital/analog audio/video streams, equipment calibration and cleaning, and so forth. From the training perspective I would often train engineers to work with each studio's configuration, new equipment (particularly engineers transitioning from analog-based systems to newer digital audio/video editorial and mixing workstations), and was even hired by vendors such as Solid State Logic to travel to their customers' sites to train people on SSL equipment.IT Support involved installing and supporting networking systems, supporting studio operations and accounting software, creating custom applications to support studio operations, and general repair of the office computers.Summary of work areas:I spent some time working at Waves Sound Recorders where advertising companies would cut radio spots for mainly the US market. I worked with Sound Research Corporation, Video Research Corporation, and Electric Ideas supporting the video post production and sweetening for advertisements and EPKs for companies such as Disney, DirecTV, The Popcorn Channel, ESPN, and various short-live talk shows.I worked at The Complex Studios supporting ADR and sweetening activities for The Simpsons and various other productions. I also supported mixing and recording activities for several music groups booking studio time such as Guns N' Roses, The Eagles, Motley Crue, and the occasional industry showcasing of an up-and-coming rock band. I also trained some of the engineers from Fox Sports in the use of the Solid State Logic Scenaria and ScreenSound.
