Loan Tran is the National Director of Rising Majority, an alliance of movement organizations building a powerful, anti-racist Left for radical democracy and a regenerative economy. Loan is rooted in the U.S. South where they come out of the migrant justice struggle as well as the youth and student movement. As a migrant from Ho Chi Minh, Viet Nam, they are deeply committed to building a multi-racial working class movement that has the power to change the game for all peoples and the planet. Loan’s writing and analysis has been included in publications such as The Solidarity Struggle: How People of Color Succeed and Fail At Showing Up For Each Other In the Fight For Freedom (2016) and Gendered Lives: Intersectional Perspectives (7th Edition, 2019). They are known for their piece, Calling In: A Less Disposable Way of Holding Each Other Accountable, released on Black Girl Dangerous in 2013, which became the basis of collaboration between them and Professor Loretta J. Ross. They firmly believe only a movement rooted in solidarity across identities, geographies, and issues can transform our lives. They currently chair the board of Highlander Research & Education Center and Migrant Roots Media. Loan is also a member of Viet Left Power.
