Profile bio

About Nitesh Magdani

I love to work with clients to increase business value from sustainability. My passion for sustainability started (a few years ago now), working as the Project Architect, where the client wanted a building to fit with its corporate ethos…responsible and caring! This gave me the opportunity to explore the true meaning of sustainability and how, it has the potential to make a positive impact to society. For most of the last decade, working with Royal BAM Group, a major construction company based in The Netherlands, I was able to translate my professional experience to help a company of 20,000 people worldwide to understand sustainability, and to put it into the core of its design, construction, facilities management and property development needs.I have delivered design and consultancy projects for key clients, as well as promoting industry wide collaboration with influential roles at The Supply Chain Sustainability School, the RIBA, The UKGBC, The Ellen MacArthur Foundation and The United Nations One Planet Network.Project examples:• Developed business cases to support the need for sustainability solutions, often involving digital and innovation capabilities.• Rolled out a global sustainability strategy, including short, medium and long term company commitments. Included key messages, performance management, and creation of guidance and tools for implementation.• Circular economy experience and advocacy – led industry debates, co-authored Business Models report in association with Arup & The Ellen MacArthur Foundation and was instrumental in the design, construction and disassembly of The Circular House in London.• Developed a ‘visioning’ tool for Google - Led a team of sustainability consultants to develop a framework ‘visioning’ tool for Google’s developments. Facilitated out a trial in Dublin.• Circular building digital platform – key sponsor and team member. Developed a proposition and business case for investment and industry scale up.• Mentored and supported start-ups as part of Advance London’s Circular Economy incubator.I have worked with both corporate and entrepreneurial businesses to scale up strategies and solutions.I believe in collaboration, systems thinking and sound evidence to achieve tangible benefits. I have learnt that what works for Senior Executives in a business, doesn’t necessarily sell to people on the ground. They also need the tools and frameworks to make it happen! My visual approach to tackling problems and simple step by step guidance helps to take people on a journey.
