Researching variational principles of fluid mechanics and its application towards reduced order modeling for unsteady aerodynamics. I adopt the geometrical and analytical mechanics approach while implementing my research, with a scent of performing CFD simulations on High Performance Computing units for validating the analytical results. Served as a teacher assistant for couple of courses while pursuing my PhD.

• Model system dynamics of a two-wheeled robot to construct the dynamical state-space formulation.• Perform stability analysis for different operating envelopes.• Design control algorithms (PID, LQR, LQG, Explicit-MPC) for stabilizing and path tracking of the robot using MATLAB and Simulink.• Integrate Xsens Inertial Navigation System (INS) and stepper motor for steering actuation with embedded systems (ARDUINO, NI myRIO) through different serial communication, UART and PWM.• Perform hardware in the loop simulations to test controller behavior and implement the control algorithms on the embedded system.

• Optimized under wing tank profiles for a general aviation aircraft to satisfy operational constraints and minimize the drag, relying on empirical formulas and different optimization methods.• Drafted, meshed, and simulated (3D-URANS CFD on a HPC unit) different aircraft configurations to estimate the drag and lift variations.• Post-processed and analyzed CFD results to select the best design.• Provided consultation about aircraft dynamics and predicted changes in the vehicle dynamics based on the proposed system alterations.

• Generated aircraft controller inputs for path planning and maneuvers.• Composed an Implicit-Model Predictive Controller algorithm based on the full nonlinear aircraft equations of motion to predict control inputs for specified trajectories and maneuvers.• Identified aircraft aerodynamic derivatives from experimental data using time- and frequency-domain system identification techniques.• Developed technical documentation for final products.

Hired for the initiation and creation of the mechanical research and development department in the company. The main goal was to design, implement and test a ROV prototype for oil and gas underwater surveillance. Job responsibilities were as follow:o Designing the ROV hydro-dynamics layout configuration meeting the market needs. o Detailed modeling and assessment of the forces on the ROV using computational fluid dynamics software.o Designing the mechanical structure using computer aided drawings software and manufacturing.o Designing of control algorithms for the ROV control and operation.o Integrating sensors with embedded system for control algorithm implementation using the required embedded software for the selected hardware. o Field testing for the ROV. o Develop technical documentation for the product and submitting technical reports.o Knowledge transfer and training for junior engineers.
