About Nnem Nwosu

I believe the world should be a fairer place for all, and that is what propelled me to work in local government. From my time in education, I was interested in revamping social institutions to make the systems fair for all. The system of interest for me at the time was the criminal justice system which led me to complete a BSC and a PG Cert in criminology. At the time, I focused on creating a fairer experience for survivors of domestic violence and was even commissioned by Gloucestershire Rape and Abuse Centre to create a recommendation report on the domestic and sexual violence service needs of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic women in the county. Moving on from university, I had various job roles in customer service and was a youth worker helping empower adolescents and young adults in north London to close the gap of high levels of unemployment.Fast forward to today, I am in the National Management Graduate program, currently working in Corporate Policy at Broxbourne Borough Council. My role is to support a project to help Black and South Asian residents to improve the management of their diabetes. In addition to this, I am also tasked with aiding the creation and publication of the monthly healthy hub newsletters for Broxbourne’s healthy hub. As a young lady with dyslexia and dyspraxia, my accomplishments are seen in my day-to-day work. From someone who struggled with writing all my life, to now having created several articles for the newsletter and conducting statistical analysis for the Council's census bulletins. I am a walking example that working on your skills could propel you to opportunities you could’ve only dreamed of. I aim to do so much more in the next two years to close the gap of inequality whilst on this program, as I believe enacting small changes at a local level could help fight against inequalities. To stay tuned, connect with me and watch this space
