I used to think that my role as a digital strategist and analyst was split into two halves: investigating data trends as an analyst and fine-tuning experiences based on emotions as a strategist. That was the wrong approach. Successful strategies pull the emotions out of the data and customize an online journey around it.There's an art to delivering an online experience that doesn't come across as superficial. People want to feel in control and advertising, more often than not, can create a jarring encounter. The trick is to move above expectations and tap into people's emotions. From a search ad to a website, the customers' needs come first (sorry clients, you're a very close second). While achieving this may sound daunting, and it can be at times, the blueprint I've found is to work with a team of individuals with unique perspectives and brainstorm. My previous work as a film editor sharpened this attitude when it comes to client strategies: coming up with an idea and having it approved is big, but fine-tuning it based on criticism and other people's perspectives is how an idea evolves into a revenue producer.
