As a Programmer Systems here at the University of Kentucky Institute for Biomedical Informatics, in the Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence, I work with a team of other developers and researchers to create and produce software and systems to benefit healthcare and health. Our team collaborates to balance multiple projects, develop, deliver, and maintain software which improves the experience of students, doctors, and patients. The projects I work on can range from website development to artificial intelligence. Most of these projects are related to medicine.One of the many benefits of this position is that I am able to wear many hats, as the job very much includes a lot of Full-Stack experience which varies from project to project. It also provides me the opportunity to join other projects at the same time, like the All of Us Research Program.Additionally, I have the responsibility of managing our High School/Undergrad Internship program which has allowed me to gain a lot of experience in how to teach and learn alongside people who are just getting started in our profession.

My responsibilities as a Data Analyst for the All of Us Research program are to provide technical experience to people wishing to use the growing, diverse dataset of medical information that is provided by AoU. I am a point of contact for researchers wishing to use the data, and assist them in creating research workbenches, acquiring data, and drawing conclusions from the data using computer science principles and technologies.

As an intern at the Institute for Biomedical Informatics, I have interfaced Segment Anything with existing infrastructure in order to create a useable training system for creating medically focused segmentation models which are useable by Segment Anything.My time here has taught me how to integrate code that I am unfamiliar with, challenged me to pick up experience in network programming, API creation, and given me experience working with ReactJS.Additionally, I was given the opportunity to attend meetings with experienced medical researchers both in and out of the programming field.

As a Prototyping Guide for the UK College of Engineering Innovation Center, my responsibilities included training students in the safe use of several different machines and tools including SLA and FDM 3-D Printers, Laser Cutters, Vinyl Cutters, PCB Mills, Tormach CNC Mills, ShopBots, soldering, and hand tools. While working at the Innovation Center, I also conducted presentations and tool demonstrations for visiting campus tours and other such programs. On any given day we could expect to help 4-20 people an hour depending on the state of projects in various classes for the engineering and design colleges, as well as other students wishing to utilize our tool set.

As a Student Lab Consultant, I manage a desk and computer lab which services the greater student population (~30,000) at the University of Kentucky. This position has provided me with valuable experience in diagnosing software issues, installing new software, and managing clients in stressful situations.
