Responsible for designing solutions and managing projects to optimize plant performance and operations. As a reliability engineering intern, I work on site alongside plant engineers to generate solutions to failed equipment and to optimize the performance of Harrington Station. Throughout my time as an intern I have been privileged to learn about the power generation process and the basics of plant operation. I have had the opportunity to optimize several systems including the boiler vent lines, plant injection well system, plant soot blower and instrument air compressors, and others. I have also received some training on plant automation and controls to assist on upcoming projects for the plant. Throughout the internship I have worked alongside plant maintenance crews and operators to assist them in plant performance which has allowed me to fine tune my technical communication skills when discussing plant systems and possible optimized solutions. In addition to technical communication, my ability to express and accurately relay technical concepts through reports and writings has also been tested and improved. This also was made manifest in reading drawings, schematics, and product data sheets. Finally, this internship has also taught me to pull data from our plant database and historian to trend system performance for reliability reports and diagnostics.
