How is our complex brain developed? Only by understanding how nervous systems are generated can we begin to apply our understanding of neural development to address human diseases. I have leveraged genetic analyses and tools to investigate how temporal patterning in neural stem cells gives rise to the diversity of neuron cell types. My research involves utilizing recently developed single-cell RNA sequencing approaches and subsequent functional testing on genes of interest using CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing.
